Marking Territory: DCO imposes Section 144

Section 144 imposed to avoid any mishap as people usually visit Chinab Park and Tounsa Barrage in holidays.

MUZAFFARGARH: DCO Tahir Khursheed has imposed Section 144 for entry to banks of the Indus River on Tuesday.

Khursheed said that Section 144 was being imposed during the Eid vacations to avoid any mishap as a large crowd of people usually visited Chinab Park and Tounsa Barrage at the time. “There is a fear of flooding in the area and water levels have been rising. The ban on entry may be extended after the Eid vacations as well until we are sure the area is safe,” he said.  Tehsil Municipal Administration officials have said that the area is being temporarily sealed off because of flood warnings. “Several people visit the area and we wish to avoid any untoward incident so we are sealing off the area to protect lives,” he added.
