Five people kidnapped a woman at gunpoint and extorted Rs2 million from her after threatening to share her explicit pictures.
The police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim's husband who is employed in Saudi Arabia.
The resident of the 549GB area stated that he had married the victim in 2019 and had gone to Saudi Arabia for employment some time ago.
During his absence, Saadat Ali got hold of obscene photographs of his wife and threatened to post them on social media. He demanded Rs280,000 from the woman.
The complainant stated that on July 1, the suspect had demanded Rs2 million from his wife within a week and threatened to share the photos if she refused.
His wife sold her property on July 8, paid the money to the suspect and asked him to delete her pictures. However, on the night of August 5, the suspect and his accomplices Idris, Waseem Shah, Khizer Hayat, and Yousuf abducted his wife from his home and also took away gold jewellery, the complainant told the police.
When his brother, Mohsin, tried to stop them, the kidnappers beat him with pistol butt and locked him in a room.
Garh police registered a case against the suspects under sections 292, 384 and 496A and carried out raids to arrest the the suspects.
In another incident, a woman was raped in the 85GB area.
According to the police, the victim's husband had stated in his complaint that he was sleeping on the roof of his home when the suspect Yasir barged in along with other men, yook his wife into a room and raped her at gun point.
Meanwhile, a boy was sexually assaulted allegedly by Aftab and four other men in the 552GB area.
Another complainant accused Ansar Ali of attempting to molest a girl, while Ashfaq was accused of attempting to sexually assault a 14-year-old girl in the 452GB area.
Both girls foiled the assaults by making noise.
Police said they had registered the cases over the complaints and begum efforts to arrest the suspects.
