KARACHI:

In a startling turn of events surrounding the acid attack incident in Liaquatabad, the prime suspect has been identified as none other than the victim’s husband. Anwar Anu, the spouse in question, has been apprehended by the police. He claimed that he resorted to the heinous act due to suspicions regarding his wife’s alleged involvement with another man.

The victim, a mother of three children, was in her residence within the jurisdiction of the Liaquatabad police station when a person concealed in a burqa hurled acid on her and swiftly escaped. This brutal attack resulted in severe burns to the woman.

ASP Ayaz Hussain, overseeing Liaquatabad, revealed that following the incident, local residents informed the victim’s husband, prompting his return home. Subsequently, the police detained multiple individuals for questioning but failed to make any substantial progress, leading to their eventual release.

As the investigation progressed, the husband’s behavior aroused suspicion. Upon interrogation, Anwar Anu confessed to the crime.

CCTV footage from a camera located on the street outside the victim’s house showed him coming out of the house. Initial findings revealed that the arrested husband justified his actions accusing his wife of maintaining an extramarital relationship.
