Lahore police is initiating the process of declaring proclaimed offenders for the accused persons allegedly involved in the events of 9th May, who have not been arrested so far.
CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana addressed a press conference at his office, stating that only 247 accused persons had been shortlisted through geo-fencing, CDR, CCTV footages and other categories and were currently absconding.
All the others had already been arrested.
He emphasised that Lahore Police had been tirelessly working to apprehend all the accused involved in the heinous offense, and recently, six more accused persons were arrested. The remaining 247 individuals who were still at large will be declared proclaimed offenders through legal action.
Lahore CCPO expressed great satisfaction over the recent security arrangements during the holy month of Muharram. Lahore Police provided full security coverage to 3,668 majalis and 458 processions during the month, with more than 11,000 police officers and personnel dedicated to their duties.
Lahore police's effective strategies ensured peace and security during Ashura, without the need for a shutdown of mobile phone and internet services. The media's cooperation in security matters during Muharram was also acknowledged.
On August 4, police will observe "Youm-e-Shuhada" to pay tribute to the brave policemen who sacrificed their lives while safeguarding the public.
