RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has promoted 73 assistant sub-inspectors (ASI) to the post of sub-inspector (SI), with the notification issued by the office of the additional inspector general (AIG) of the PHP.

The officers and rankers of the highway patrol police in Punjab had previously complained about the slow pace of promotions in their department. With the recent elevation in ranks across forces and units of the Punjab police, the cases put forth by the PHP were also considered.

A departmental committee reviewed the cases for promotion and sent recommendations to the Punjab police chief to promote 73 ASIs to the post of sub-inspector. After its approval, the additional IG of PHP issued the notification. The promoted inspectors would be on probation for three years. PHP officials credited Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar and PHP Additional IG Punjab Abdul Kareem for the promotion, which they said had been delayed for a long time.
