LAHORE:

The management of parking facilities in all government-run hospitals in the provincial capital will be handed over to the Lahore Parking Company (LPC).

The decision was taken in a meeting on Monday, during which Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman received a detailed presentation from health officials regarding the implementation of a plan to spend Rs15 billion to upgrade the infrastructure and provide essential medical equipment in 28 prominent hospitals in the province.

According to an official announcement, the move is expected to streamline parking operations and enhance convenience for patients and visitors.

Addressing the meeting, the chief secretary underscored the importance of offering the best possible healthcare to eligible patients through the health insurance programme. He highlighted that the facilities should be so exceptional that patients would be encouraged to opt for medical treatment in government health institutions.

He urged the deputy commissioners to prioritise improvements in the health and education sectors within their districts.

Khanewal Deputy Commissioner Waseem Hamid Sindhu received commendation for securing ISO certification for the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

The chief secretary instructed all deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners, who act as heads of the district and tehsil health councils, to ensure the presence of doctors and staff in hospitals.

Provincial Secretary Ali Jan outlined a timeline for revamping the DHQ and THQ hospitals by December. All basic health units (BHUs) now maintain digital records of patients, facilitating coordination and efficiency.
