Participants of a webinar Monday highlighted shocks and stresses confronting food security and pondered ways to achieve resilience in food security.

COMSTECH Coordinator General Professor M Iqbal Choudhary emphasised the importance of advancing science and technology to develop resilient food systems in the face of numerous challenges confronting food security.

He shared these views during a webinar titled "Shocks, Stresses, and Resilience of Food System in the Arab Region," presented by Professor Abdullah Al-Musa, Secretary General of The Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST) in Jordan and a member of the Technical Experts Group in climate change, Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).

Addressing the audience, Professor Choudhary highlighted the topic's paramount importance in relation to human welfare and well-being. He expressed concerns about the various threats to food security and commended Professor Abdullah Al-Musa for his exceptional contributions, knowledge, humility, and expertise in the field.

During his lecture, Professor Abdullah Al-Musa delved into the drivers of food systems, the food supply chain, the environment, and customer behaviour.
