No chance of rain in city for now: PMD

Weather will remain mild next week owing to the full restoration of sea breezes

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that there is no chance of fresh monsoon rains in the city until August 15.

Surjani Town recorded the maximum rainfall of 169mm in the entire month of July, while the lowest rainfall of 3mm was recorded in Saddar area.

Two monsoon systems have entered the city this month, the most recent, from the Bay of Bengal, was particularly intense. The weather will remain mild next week owing to the full restoration of sea breezes.

Pakistan Meteorological Department's continual records of the city's rainfall show that North Karachi received 109.5mm rain, followed by Gulshan-e-Hadeed 92mm, Gulshan-e-Maymar 88.3mm, University Road 76.3mm, Saadi Town 68.2mm, Orangi Town 65mm, Jinnah Terminal 55.6mm, Quaidabad, PAF Base Faisal 44mm, Karachi Airport 39.9mm, DHA 30.5mm, Korangi 24.4mm, Nazimabad 20.5mm, Keamari 15mm, PAF Base Masroor 12.5mm, and Gadap Town received 12.4mm rainfall.

The Met Department reports that the city is not anticipated to experience a fresh spell of rain until August 15. The weather is predicted to remain mild starting next week as the sea breezes start to blow more often.
