QUETTA:

In the lead-up to the approaching general elections in 2023, Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, and Chairman Senate Pakistan, Sadiq Sanjrani, have been actively working to maintain the unity of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).

Their efforts have included holding detailed meetings with key party members, such as Senator Saeed Ahmed Hashmi, Speaker of Balochistan Assembly, Jan Muhammad Jamali, Senators Manzoor Kakar, and Naseeb Ullah Bazai.

“We have decided to contest the elections through the platform of BAP,” announced Bizenjo confidently, emphasizing that BAP remains intact and is in close contact with its supporters to ensure victory in the upcoming elections.

However, there have been reports of some prominent figures leaving BAP.

Former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan, Senator Sarfaraz Bugti, Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar, and others have reportedly abandoned the party. Although a formal announcement regarding their departure is yet to be made, it seems they may join the ranks of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), as have former Senior Minister Mir Zahoor Buledi, Arif Jan Muhammad Hassani, and Saleem Khan Khoso.

Despite these challenges, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has played a crucial role in reorganizing BAP and bringing its leaders closer together, aiming to maintain the party’s status as the largest parliamentary group in the province, a position it attained after the 2018 general elections.
