RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi Operations SSP Aamir Niazi has been removed from his post and ordered to report to the Central Police Office in Lahore following serious allegations against him.

Punjab Inspector General (IG) of Police Dr Usman Anwar has appointed DIG Idrees Malik as the inquiry officer to investigate the allegations.

According to sources, DIG Malik has been in Rawalpindi for the past two days, conducting the inquiry at the RPO office.

Sources revealed that SSP Niazi had taken a few days of leave but did not return after the leave period ended. He subsequently applied for additional leaves. Due to reasons unrelated to the recent allegations, SSP Niazi was not eligible for departmental promotion, which reportedly caused dissatisfaction.

During the ongoing inquiry, DIG Malik is also looking into various matters, including the case of a recovered abducted child from Lahore in Rawalpindi, complaints from female police officers, and issues related to the former SHO of Newtown police station, and other officials.

After completing the inquiry, DIG Malik will submit the inquiry report to the IG Punjab. When contacted, SSP Operations Aamir Niazi confirmed his removal from the post and transfer to the Central Police Office in Lahore.

He stated that he himself did not wish to continue in the position. However, SSP Niazi claimed to be unaware of the other allegations, complaints, and details of the inquiry conducted by DIG Malik.
