RAWALPINDI:

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid on Sunday said the  (NAB) law amendments case was still in the Supreme Court and the Constitution as well as the law did not allow tweaks only intended to benefit one’s own self.

Taking to Twitter, the former federal minister wrote that the performance of the current government in the last 15 months was raising the prices of electricity, gas, flour, and sugar.

He added that securing a loan was considered humiliating in the entire world but the government was rejoicing after doing so, referring to the recent staff-level agreement it reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Rashid conveniently forgot to mention that Pakistan had approached the global lender for the loan during the PTI government’s tenure.

The AML chief maintained that the economic conditions of the country had now become so serious that they would not be sorted out even if someone tried to do so.

Referring to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Rashid said he had taken the oath of his office on the day of his indictment.

The ex-federal minister claimed that PM Shehbaz had ended his “authentic” money laundering case.

Rashid maintained that the PM, while on his way out, had inoculated the nation with money laundering of Rs70 billion in solar energy.

The AML chief, while referring to the May 9 violence, claimed that pregnant women as well as children were taken away from their homes and placed in special prisons to be forced to give statements through torture.

Through those statements, he maintained that innocent political activists were rounded up. In scorching heat, innocent activists were laid naked on the ground in the punishment cells of police stations.

“It will become clear whether the elections will be transparent or rigged after the government’s announcement of the caretaker set-up and its choice of polls,” he said.
