Road crashes leave 32 dead in a day

Over 1,100 motorbikes involved in accidents

At least 32 people died, whereas 1,202 were injured in 1,105 road traffic crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

As per official data, 607 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 500 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident sites by rescue medical teams.

As any as 72 of the accidents involved motorbikes.

The data showed that 549 adult and 44 underage drivers, 133 pedestrians and 457 passengers were among the victims of the road traffic crashes.

The statistics showed that 199 RTCs were reported in Lahore, which affected 224 persons, followed by 86 accidents in Multan with 84 victims and 69 in Faisalabad with 68 victims.

The victims including 916 males and 286 females, while 236 of them were under 18 years of age, 597 aged between 18 and 40 years and 306 above 40 years.

According to the data, 1,118 motorbikes, 60 auto-rickshaws, 114 cars, 29 vans, nine buses, 22 trucks and 113 other types of vehicles and carts were involved in the traffic accidents.
