I want my better half to be my best friend: Ameer Gilani on ideal partner, red flags
Actor Ameer Gilani has shared insights into his personal life and provided updates on his ongoing projects. Gilani, known for his role in the popular drama serial Sabaat, delved into his thoughts on love, relationships, and his upcoming drama Neem, in which he stars alongside Mawra Hocane.
In an interview with Fuchsia Magazine, when asked about his current activities, Gilani revealed, "There's some shooting for Neem left, we're just completing Neem." Addressing the topic of relationships, Gilani reflected on his personal life, opening up about how his relationship status continues to be the same as before.
"I'm such a boring person, [my relationship status] is the same. Nothing has changed. Maybe no one's shown interest," said Gilani. When asked if he, himself, has shown an interest in a potential partner, the actor replied, "I haven't shown interest either." He explained that his focus has been on studying and that he considers himself quite introverted, with a limited social circle.
"I was busy studying," said the star. "I think I'm quite introverted, I don't go out much. I don't have a friends' circle, I have a friends' line - just three, or four people. I don't really meet people that much. I think in order to like someone, love someone, you have to go out there, see someone...I think I might need help. I'm quite zero in matters like these."
Even so, when discussing his ideal life partner, Gilani emphasised the importance of friendship. "I want my better half to be my best friend...I want her to be as authentic and real as she can be." He said that he would always his raise his voice for his partner, given that he's want his sister's husband to do the same. "Companioniship, I think, is the most important thing." He also stressed the need for balance between his parents and his wife, acknowledging the transition that occurs when someone new enters a family with their own perspectives and experiences. “I believe a man should strike a balance between his parents and wife as she is now the new person in the family and will be coming with a different mindset,” said Gilani.
Gilani also shared characteristics that he finds unappealing in a potential partner, stating, "I cannot be someone who is overly possessive...Yes, calling and taking care is normal, but annoying someone and being needy is a quality that I cannot bear." He expressed his aversion to being with someone who attempts to change him, considering it a red flag for both men and women. “If someone tries to change me...mould me into someone she wants, that would be a huge red flag, for both men and women," stated the young actor.
Whilst meandering into "taboo" topics, Gilani also spoke about normalising marriages with divorcees and older women. "I don't think there's anything wrong with it," said the star. "You find a friend, you find love - what does that have to do with someone's age or their previous marriage? There are people in my family who have not had a good first marriage, got divorced, and are happily married again."
Continuing on, he said, "Divorce is a frowned upon thing. One prays that it doesn't happen. But if the circumstances are such that there is no other way out, then there is a reason divorce exists. I don't think about these things, that, 'Oh, if she's older, do I -' there are so many older women that are extremely attractive."
Furthermore, Gilani stated, "Even if she's younger than me, older than me, if someone is divorced, it doesn't mean that they are not worthy of anything. Who are we to judge? If your heart falls for someone, then it falls for that person, regardless of anything."
Speculation has been rife about Gilani's relationship with Mawra. However, no official confirmation was given regarding their alleged romance. The Daasi star has also never confirmed their relationship status. In a recent interview with Fuchsia Magazine, when asked about her relationship, Mawra humorously responded that it would not remain a secret. The actor stated, "It's impossible that I find someone and the world does not know...Whenever I find someone, you will know. The world will know. My Instagram is for everyone...God willing, when the time is right, and the process is there, the world will know."
On the work front, Gilani expressed his excitement for his upcoming drama serial, Neem, in which he will be starring alongside Mawra. He assured fans that the wait for the drama will be worth it, building anticipation for the project.
