One of the most important ways to enhance women's rights is to increase their access to education and employment.
When women are educated and employed, they are more likely to be able to make their own choices about their lives and contribute to the economic development of the country, Social and Public Policy Advisor (Gender and Women Empowerment) Fauzia Yazdani.
She was speaking during the Media Coalition Meeting to mark World Population Day organised by the Population Council on Monday.
The meeting highlighted the cross-sectoral impact of rapid population growth periodically to raise awareness and hold governments accountable for improving the well-being of the people.
“Research indicates that lack of women empowerment contributed to the country's unsustainable population growth as educated and employed women are empowered to better plan their families,” said Yazdani.
In his welcome remarks, Senior Director Programmes Population Council Dr Ali Mir said “Pakistan ranks amongst the lower rank of the Global Gender Gap Index 2022.
