WATCH THIS WEEK: DON’T LOOK UP

You don’t have to look up to see the dazzling array of stars in this film about a comet. Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Ariana Grande, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry and Timothy Chalamet in a punchy satire which once you start watching, you can’t pull away from. Adam McKay’s wake-up call about climate change, and the human preoccupation with control and cashing in on everything from elections to TV air time, even if the planet is about to be devastated, is funny yet hard-hitting.

FOLLOW THIS WEEK: PODCAST: SERIAL

Having been around since 2014, this podcast from the creators of This American Life is an absolute unadulterated cult classic, and for good reason. Hosted by Sarah Koenig, it tells one true story over the course of a season and has won every major award for broadcasting. The first season delves into a murder case, for which the victim’s ex-boyfriend was convicted. Following the podcast and subsequent media attention, in 2022, he was released. Season three about an American courthouse was equally ground-breaking and season four is reportedly on its way.

BINGE THIS WEEK: HOLLYWOOD

Truly a treat for those who are fascinated by the Golden Age of Hollywood, right after World War II, the beginning of the era of massive stars, epic productions, and the years when the studio system was at its strongest. Given their love and knowledge of showbiz history, who could be better than Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan as writers of this 7-episode series that examines the President Roosevelt days in the US, when being an African-Americans or gay had similar social challenges. Lots of slick characters, eye-candy and entertainment.

PLAY THIS WEEK: THE LEGEND OF HEROES: TRAILS INTO REVERIE

Developed by Falcom, the game offers Japanese-style role play and where one trial ends, another begins. The intertwining fates of the war hero Rean Schwarzer, the liberator Lloyd Bannings, and the masked enigma C in Zemuria, will be decided in this climactic chapter of The Legend of Heroes series. Follow their footsteps as you switch between their paths freely with the Crossroads system and dive into refined tactical combat with new features such as United Front. You can also discover new allies and challenges within the True Reverie Corridor.
