The Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department’s Rawalpindi Region has stood first among all other provincial tax collecting bodies in revenue generation across Punjab, revealed the annual performance report.
The performance report released by the department put Lahore Region in the last spot in tax collection.
According to the report, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, the Rawalpindi Region collected Rs3.9 million more tax during the current fiscal year to a total of Rs40.3 million in taxes, earning the first spot among the 36 districts of the province. In the second position, Layyah Excise and Taxation Department collected Rs2.7 million more tax than last year to a total of Rs10.2 million.
District Nankana Sahib stood at the third while Gujarat stood at the fourth position.
Hafizabad was ranked 9th by collecting Rs74,263 less tax than last year. Similarly, Multan collected 18.2 million less tax than last year.
In the year 2022-23 tax collection, Faisalabad ranked 35th by collecting Rs31.8 million less tax than the previous year. The district collected a total of Rs48.8 million in taxes.
District Lahore collected a total of Rs880.9 million in the year 2022-23 which was over Rs1 billion in the year 2021-22. While Lahore district secured the last position i.e. 36th in the entire province.
