KARACHI:

A dealer involved in the sale of banned carcinogenic tobacco products such as gutka, mawa, and mainpuri, was fatally shot in a deliberate attack by suspected extortionists after midnight on Friday in the Azam Basti area, within the jurisdiction of Mahmoodabad police station.

Before the incident, a group of extortionists had allegedly sent threatening messages to Muhammad Salman, 30, through WhatsApp. According to Salman’s family, he had received a picture of a hand grenade along with an extortion demand. The victim arrived home early on Friday with his friend Kamran.

The assailants, waiting for them on a motorcycle, opened fire. After Salman fell to the ground, they shot him multiple times in the head to ensure his death and fled.
