The National Assembly session that was summoned on March 27 has been prorogued, announced the website of the lower house of parliament on Tuesday.
“The Majlis-e-Shoora (parliament) has been adjourned to meet again on Monday the 10th July, 2023 at 5:00 pm in the Parliament House, Islamabad,” it added.
The National Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday also issued a statement that said: “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution, the president has been pleased to prorogue the NA session on 27th March on conclusion of its business.”
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi said the ruling coalition led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has achieved a significant milestone as the National Assembly has successfully completed its parliamentary year ahead of schedule.
In a tweet, Abbasi said the government’s constitutional term will end on August 12 but the government has already met the condition of holding 130 sittings of the National Assembly.
