At least 11 snakebite victims are under treatment in Taluka Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Chahchro, officials told The Express Tribune on Sunday. Like every year during the rainy season, snakes have crawled out of their sandy homes in the ground after the rains in Tharparkar. Meanwhile, the farmers also head to the fields to sow seeds on the ground nourished by rains, health officials said. Subsequently, there are snake-human encounters and lots of people come to hospitals with snakebite complains.
After rainfall in Tharparkar, snakes have emerged. 11 snakebite victims have been admitted to Chachhro Hospital. With recent rainfall in Tharparkar, there has been an increase in incidents of venomous snake bites. The affected individuals, including Sakeena (50 years old), Jaman Nihario, Hakim, Kheto, Dongro, Gul Muhammad, Dost Muhammad, Suresh Kumar, and others, have been admitted to Chachhro Hospital.
The patients admitted are being administered AntiSnake Venom (ASV) vaccine. Other government hospitals in Tharparkar have also reported an increase in snakebite cases after the rainfall. Following the rain, farming activities have started in Tharparkar, and individuals involved in farming and livestock management are falling victim to snakebites.
