RAWALPINDI:

At least three terrorists were killed as security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Kulachi area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dera Ismail Khan district, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) operation was conducted in the ongoing pursuit of ensuring national security and eliminating the menace of terrorism in Pakistan.

ISPR said that intense exchange of gunfire during the operation led to the death of the three terrorists who had been actively involved in several terror activities targeting security forces, police, and innocent civilians.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the deceased terrorists, further reinforcing the magnitude of the threat they posed.

The terrorists were wanted for their involvement in a major attack on a Police CP in Kulachi on April 11, 2022. This brutal attack had resulted in the martyrdom of five brave police constables.

“Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area. Security Forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism,” it added.

The development comes two days after security forces eliminated six terrorists in successful operations in the districts of Tank and North Waziristan.

According to ISPR, an exchange of fire broke out between Pakistani troops and the terrorists late on the night of Thursday, June 29, in the Manzai region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Tank district.

Security forces effectively engaged the terrorists, resulting in three of them being killed. A significant quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the deceased terrorists, it said.

In a separate encounter in the Razmak area of the province's North Waziristan district, three additional terrorists were killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces.

ISPR stated that the slain terrorists were actively involved in carrying out terror activities against security forces, and were responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians.
