His first single from the upcoming album is slated for release ‘very soon this summer’

Zayn Malik, the former member of One Direction and a successful solo artist hinted at new music being launched in 2023 on his Spotify bio. According to Billboard, Malik has inked a new record deal with Mercury Records. This news comes alongside a social media wipe by the singer, followed by the launch of a pre-save link and teaser. His debut single is slated for release "very soon this summer," as stated by the label.

Having previously been signed to RCA Records, Malik’s upcoming music is said to be a “departure from the sound that characterised his previous chart-topping hits” such as Pillowtalk and I Don't Wanna Live Forever, according to sources close to the singer, as reported by the publication.

Tyler Arnold, the president of Mercury Records, is evidently excited about the deal. In a statement posted online, he said, “As soon as Zayn and I met, I knew we had to work together. I was blown away by the new music, but just as impressed by his vision, drive, and spirit. We're honoured he and his team have joined us at Mercury Records. We've got an incredible opportunity to tell the next chapter of his story together."

Malik’s solo career has already seen the release of three records: Mind of Mine in 2016, Icarus Falls in 2018, and Nobody Is Listening in 2021. These albums achieved peak positions of No 1, No 61, and No 44 on the Billboard 200, respectively.

Malik has also managed to secure six songs within the top 50 of the Pop Airplay chart, including two in the top 10. Pillowtalk, however, claimed the No 1 spot, while I Don't Wanna Live Forever reached No 2. The opportunity to pre-save the track is now available for fans eagerly awaiting Maik’s forthcoming single.
