A bus of a private company that had been on its way to Dera Ismail Khan from Multan ploughed into three people near the Baqir Pulley on the Jhang-Bhakkar Road, killing all of them on the spot.
The bus later skidded off the road and onto a plantation field.
Muhammad Ismail, a resident of Chak No. 56/ML, had been on his way home in his rickshaw loaded with a stock of wood when he stopped to give donation for an under-construction mosque at Baqir Pulley.
Besides, Muhammad Ismail, there was another man who had been there for the same purpose.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist, Muhammad Akram, a resident of Baqir Pulley, happened to pass by the area.
In the meantime, the bus ploughed into the three people, killing them on the spot.
One other person, Mangal Khan Pathan, also a resident of Baqir Pulley, sustained serious injuries.
As soon as information about the accident was received, the traffic police and Rescue 1122 immediately reached the spot.
The dead and the injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
The District Police Officer of Bhakkar, Muhammad Naveed Qureshi, called for a report after receiving the information about this terrible accident.
The DPO told The Express Tribune that an inquiry team had been appointed to find out the causes of the horrific accident.
Notice had also been taken about the wall constructed on the canal bridge on the roadside to ascertain that the accident did not occur because of it.
The accident would be examined from every aspect.
Legal action would be taken after obtaining solid evidence against those responsible.
The DPO said, “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken over the loss of three precious lives in a horrific accident a day before Eidul Azha. The grief of the bereaved is equally shared...”
The DPO also told The Express Tribune that a traffic plan had been chalked out for the next three days.
During Eidul Azha, the flow of traffic usually increased to a great extent and the risk of such serious accidents was also high.
In order to prevent serious accidents, traffic police had been deployed on national highways and other adjacent main roads by canceling holidays of police personnel. Around 1,100 officers and personnel of district police would perform their duties on the day of Eid as well.
