KURIANWALA:

The body of a teenager who had gone missing three days ago was found floating in the canal.

Police took possession of the body and shifted it to the hospital for a postmortem examination.

Three days ago, 19-year-old Waseem, a resident of Jardanwala Road, had gone missing while he had been on his way to work.

His family had reported the matter to the police.

Some passersby who had been going about their business were horrified to see a body floating in the canal.

They immediately informed the police about it.

The rescue and police teams reached the spot and fished out the body. The victim’s face had been disfigured by a gunshot wound by unidentified assailants.

Meanwhile, a newborn baby who had been kidnapped from the Allied Hospital four days ago was found alive lying in the fields off Jhang Road.

Four days ago, Samina Bibi, an attendant at the Allied Hospital, had allegedly given an obnoxious substance to Shaila Bibi, a resident of Jaranwala, who had given birth to the baby.

Samina allegedly kidnapped the newborn and also took the hospital chart with her.

The Civil Line Police Station had registered a case under Section 363 of the PPC on Shaila Bibi's statement.

On Monday, police received calls from the people who had spotted the newborn baby lying in the fields.

The police team, led by the SHO of Thikriwala, Sub-Inspector Hasan Siddique Cheema, arrived on the scene, took possession of the baby, and then contacted the SHO of the Civil Line Police Station, Abdul Jabbar, for identification.

Shaila Bibi, who had been receiving care at the Allied Hospital, was contacted and asked to come to the police station to identify the child.

She reached the police station. After identifying her newborn baby, the police gave the baby to the mother.
