Peoples Bus Service (PBS) aims to improve the travel facilities for the citizens of the province said Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon at the inauguration ceremony of the mobile application for the bus service.
Memon said that the PBS application features to provide access to information such as ticket prices, bus timings, bus service monitoring, and other necessary details.
The Sindh government has complete access to the app, enabling continuous monitoring of the service.
Despite facing various challenges, the Sindh government remains dedicated of providing affordable and comfortable facilities to its citizens and allocates hundreds of millions of rupees in subsidies every month.
“The government is actively preparing to launch e-taxis and is making rapid progress on the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, which will be Pakistan’s first BRT system operating on biogas, said Sharjeel.
He added that the Yellow Line BRT and Red Line BRT projects are estimated to be worth approximately Rs200 billion.
Acknowledging the country’s current economic difficulties, Memon stressed the need for collective decision-making and progress as a nation.
He emphasised the importance of revitalising Pakistan’s economy, focusing on agriculture, and leveraging the country’s valuable mineral resources.
The minister expressed confidence in the PPP’s experience in developing an effective water distribution system for agricultural production.
He called on everyone to work together to implement this plan, as it is crucial for the economy to thrive. He encouraged all companies to establish industries in Pakistan and assured them of support and additional facilities, including land provision.
He mentioned that the budget includes significant funds for development projects throughout Sindh, including Karachi.
Sharjeel highlighted that affordable and comfortable travel facilities like the PBS are currently not available in other provinces.
The Sindh government has also introduced a women-only Pink Bus service and the Peoples Electronic Bus Service in Karachi.
