MIRANSHAH:

A local Jirga in North Waziristan tribal district has been convened on July 5 to address the mysterious murder of Haji Sher Muhammad, the grandson of renowned freedom fighter Faqir of Epi. The Jirga, consisting of elders from various clans, aims to seek justice for the victim and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Additionally, it has announced the formation of an armed tribal lashkar to punish the culprits.

Haji Sher Muhammad was fatally shot by unidentified individuals in Mir Ali Bazaar on June 6. Under the leadership of Malik Nasarullah Khan, chief of Waziristan, a Jirga was held, with participation from elders representing Tori Khel, Manzar Khel, and Mada Khel clans. During the meeting, it was decided to convene a grand Jirga involving all clans of the North Waziristan tribal district to determine the collective course of action in response to the incident.

Local elders expressed their unanimous view that the murder of Haji Sher Muhammad was an extraordinary and grave matter. They emphasized the need for unity and announced the formation of a 600-member force, along with an 80-member committee. The Jirga expressed its deep anguish over the murder and vowed to ensure the perpetrators face severe consequences.
