Punjab govt, WB collaborate to digitise urban land records
In a joint effort with the World Bank, the Punjab government has embarked on an initiative to digitise the urban land records of the province.
The Punjab Urban Land System Enhancement Project (PULSE) aims to modernize the existing land records system, providing easy access to comprehensive land information with just a single click. The outdated khewat system will be replaced by a more efficient parcel system.
The Punjab Board of Revenue, in partnership with the World Bank, has digitized over 90 percent of the rural land records in the province. With this milestone achieved, the focus has now shifted to digitizing urban land records. This includes GIS mapping of all lands in Punjab and the creation of computerized certified maps.
To discuss the project and its implementation in detail, PULSE organized a consultative workshop chaired by DG PLRA Saira Umar. The workshop saw the participation of Project Director Asim Saleem, Project Coordinator Faizalul Hasan, relevant government departments, development authorities, leading real estate developers and NGOs.
