Flood prevention: Irrigation field staff on special duty

Cancels the holidays of all the field staff of the irrigation department after the weather warning from the met dept

KARACHI: The government of Sindh cancelled the holidays of all the field staff of the irrigation department after the weather warning from the metrological department of heavy rainfall expected from August 30 till September 3. All officers notified for special duty have been directed to report to the chief engineers. The irrigation staffs of lower Sindh have been directed exclusively to take all possible precautionary measures to combat flood during heavy rains. All growers were strictly warned not to make any breaches in any canal embankment and irrigation system to drain the accumulated rainwater from their lands. A flood emergency cell has already been established.
