Wahab sworn in as Karachi mayor

Promises to serve citizens with dedication, without any discrimination

KARACHI:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) elected mayor Murtaza Wahab, and Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, have officially taken charges of their offices on Monday.

The oath ceremony of the newly elected mayor took place at Jinnah Polo Ground.

Speaking at the occasion, Mayor Wahab expressed his dedication to serving the people of Karachi with a focus on unity and equality, transcending the barriers of hate and discrimination.

He assured the citizens of his loyalty and commitment to serve their needs, while placing emphasis on resolving their issues and moving beyond the politics of division.

Wahab expressed his confidence in the active participation of all local body representatives in implementing the PPP's service-oriented manifesto, assuring that positive changes would be witnessed by all in Karachi.

He extended his gratitude to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari, and Faryal Talpur, acknowledging that his election was based on the party's impartial dedication to public service.

The oath of the office was administered separately to Murtaza Wahab and Salman Abdullah Murad by Election Commissioner Sindh Ejaz Anwar Chauhan.

Present at the event, Administrator Karachi, Dr Saifur Rahman, presented the symbolic key of the city to Mayor Murtaza Wahab.

PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, former Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Minister for Labour Saeed Ghani, members of the Sindh and National Assembly, diplomats, businessmen, were present on the occasion.
