Deployment of special moving squads to control traffic

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has devised a plan to maintain smooth flow of traffic during Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr.

Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Moeen Masood ordered the deployment of special moving squads to control traffic and said that action will be taken against people who violate traffic laws and create hindrances in the smooth flow of traffic on Chand Raat.

Wary of the likelihood of hooliganism on Chand Raat, the ITP have also made extra deployment of police officials at markets and shopping areas. One wheeling was also cited as something the police will endeavour to control.

Meanwhile, traffic police officials will be deployed around all major mosques in the city during Eid prayers to help coordinate traffic and parking. Similar arrangements will be made at recreation centres and public parks, which see an increased number of visitors on Eid days.

The SSP appealed to residents of the city to act civilised, maintain road discipline and not cause hindrances in traffic flow. He directed the staffers to ensure zero tolerance for violators, while maintaining a firm and polite attitude.
