Former MPA booked over launching illegal housing schemes

Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) officials have arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sahiwal president Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan on the suspicion of causing a loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

According to an ACE spokesperson, former MPA Rana Aftab has been arrested on charges including looting people by setting up illegal housing schemes.

The spokesman alleged that the former legislator had not taken approval from any competent authority for the housing schemes and caused loss of millions of rupees to the government in conversion fee. Space was not left for public amenities in the housing schemes and the land was fraudulently sold to citizens.

Even paved roads and sewerage system were not provided to the purchasers, the spokesperson alleged.

The Sahiwal ACE has registered a case against Rana Aftab, Rana Irfan Ahmed, Azhar Hussain, Muhammad Nadeem, Sub Registrar Rana Yusuf, Building Inspector Rai Mohsin and revenue officials Rana Naveed Ahmed, Chaudhry Mohammad Asghar and Zahoor Ahmed on charged of launching illegal housing schemes and neglecting their duty.
