‘Murree to get new parking plaza’

Official says facility to have space for 700 vehicles

To resolve the traffic woes of Murree, the district administration has commenced the construction work on a three-story parking plaza at Jhika Gali.

This was disclosed by Murree Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Qasim Ijaz during a meeting headed by Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha. The official briefed the commissioner on new and ongoing projects in Murree. He said the plaza will be built on 10 kanals of land and will have a parking space for around 700 vehicles.

The meeting was attended by officials from various departments.

In the meeting, the additional DC said a plan has been approved to build a gymkhana club on 10 kanals of land in Lower Jhika Gali.

In the briefing, the officials of the Public Health and Engineering Departments said that there is a plan to set up a plant to clean the waste that goes from Murree to Rawal Dam. The project is aimed to protect clean water from contamination.

While giving a briefing, PHA DG said that a park will be built on 16 kanals of land for the public in Murree. The park will be equipped with modern facilities, he said.

While giving a briefing, Punjab Highway Authority officials said that to improve the traffic situation in Murree, a 7 km road from Bansara Gali to Barian, a 10.70 km road from Bastal Mor to Barori, while a 3.5 km road from Gharial Camp to Kari Nakar was being constructed.
