The capital of Punjab hosts the most cultural programmes in the country along with Karachi.
During the past week, the echoes of the two-day Lahore Sufi Festival at Alhamra Centre were heard far and wide.Famous singers and Qawwals of the country enthralled the audience by reciting Sufi poetry. A book fair and a conference on Sufism were also organised.
The Amjad Islam Amjad Mushaira was organised at the arts council to pay tribute to the late poet for his literary services.
Poets Atta Muhammad Khan, Wajid Ameer, Nasir Bashir, Hasnain Sahar, Saima Aftab, Niaz Hussain, Shabbir Hassan, Rahila Ashraf Rajput, Tasneem Kausar, Seemab Zafar and Naveedal Hasan Bukhari participated in the mushaira.
An interesting event organised during the week week was the Miss Pakistan pageant.
Film director Safdar Malik and showbiz stars were among a large number of people who attended the event.
Safnia Shah became Miss Pakistan World 2023, Fatima Fakhar won the title of Mrs Pakistan World, while Alina Shah was declared Miss Trans Pakistan.The title of Miss Pakistan Global went to Warda Muneeb Rao.
Areej Chaudhry and Dr Shafaq Akhtar crowned the year's title holders.
Female students from the Punjab University Department of Textile Design visited Alhamra Art Museum and were shown and the 244 artworks of 116 artists on display.
Senior actor Rashid Mehmood suffered a stroke a few days after surviving a heart attack. Many artistes visited his home to enquire after his health.
