An anti-terrorism court has sought the police record by June 12 (Monday) in post-arrest bails of 34 accused, including former PTI provincial minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid, in the alleged case of attacking the Lahore corps commander’s residence, creating law and order, arson and chaos following the events of May 9.
As the proceedings commenced, the law officer apprised the court that the case record was available in Islamabad at the moment.
He requested the court to adjourn the case.
The petitioners, including Yasmeen, filed bail pleas in an FIR registered at Shadman police under different charges.
The petitioners contended in their petitions that they were innocent and had nothing to do with the allegations levelled against them. “A concocted story had been woven in the FIR merely to humiliate and embarrass them.”
They contended that neither anything had been recovered from their possession nor the role attributed to them was true to establish their involvement in the said case.
Under such circumstances “there is no justification to keep them in jail”. “We are ready to face the charges before the trial court,” they maintained in the petitions.
They requested the court to grant them bails.
