Haripur police launch investigations into tragic incidents

Tragedy struck the city as two separate incidents claimed the lives of a 60-year-old man and a 16-year-old youth.

In a grim discovery, the lifeless body of an elderly man was recovered from Khanpur Dam while in a separate incident, a young boy was shot dead in Mohalla Patan. According to sources, locals spotted the body in Khanpur Dam and immediately alerted the authorities.

The police swiftly responded to the call, recovering the body from the dam and transferring it to the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Syed Niaz Hussain Shah, a resident of Wajidabad Central Jail Haripur.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Mohammad Sajawal lost his life in Mohalla Patan. The victim's father, Mohammad Javed, son of Muhammad Sultan and a resident of Karwala Basera, filed a case against the perpetrator. The police have launched a series of raids at various locations to arrest the culprits.

Initial investigations suggest that the youth's murder may be a consequence of an ongoing feud.

On Thursday, a man was arrested for allegedly torturing a woman during a domestic dispute while raids are being carried out to apprehend his accomplice.

According to sources, an incident of violence took place in the limits of Police Station Najibullah Chowki Panian yesterday. A case under Section 337-V, 354, 34 PPC was registered against the accused on the report of the plaintiff. DPO Haripur, Mohammad Omer Khan had taken notice of the incident and had issued orders to DSP Circle, Khanpur and SHO Police Station Kot Najibullah regarding the arrest of the accused involved in the incident.

In compliance with the directives, SHO Police Station Kot Najibullah, Mohammad Arif along with the in-charge Panian, Asad Khan and others under the supervision of DSP Circle Khanpur, Mohammad Uzair, arrested the accused named Sher Mohammad son of Bacha Khan, resident of camp no.12 in the incident.

Police are conducting raids to arrest the other accused. Further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Labiqa Akram held an open court (khuli kacheri) at the Union Council Panian for the redressal of public grievances.
