KARACHI:

Philip Morris Pakistan Limited (PMPKL) organised a successful event on World Environment Day 2023 at its Karachi head office in order to demonstrate its strong commitment to environmental conservation and responsibility.

With the theme of "Beat Plastic Pollution," the PMPKL acknowledged the pressing need to address environmental challenges. The PMPKL encouraged attendees to bring their plastic bottles and shopping bags to the event, providing dedicated collection points for plastic recycling.

The event programme allowed participants to learn about the benefits of recycling organic waste through composting. Attendees actively took part in creating nutrient-rich soil for gardening, thus embracing an effective recycling method.

During his keynote speech, PMPKL's Managing Director Roman Yazbeck highlighted the company's commitment to reduce plastic consumption and minimise its environmental footprint. He emphasised the need for collaboration among governments, businesses, and individuals to accelerate action and transition towards a circular economy. Renowned environmentalist Tofiq Pasha, a guest speaker at the event, stressed the importance of raising awareness about plastic pollution while recognising the broader environmental challenges.

Pasha called for collective action and sustainable practices, urging individuals, organisations, and governments to prioritise environmental conservation for a greener and more sustainable future.
