Police registered the murder case of Advocate Abdul Razzaq Shar, nominating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, on the complaint of the slain lawyer’s son, sources said on Wednesday.
The police sources said that the Jameel Shaheed Police Station lodged the first information report (FIR) after Shar’s son, Siraj Ahmed, who is also a lawyer himself, accused Imran of being responsible for his father’s murder.
Shar was gunned down on Quetta's airport road area on Tuesday. Police said the assailants sprayed 14 bullets on the vehicle the slain lawyer was travelling in and escaped. The lawyer died on the spot.

Advocate Shar had submitted an application against Imran, seeking registration of a treason case against the former prime minister for violating the Constitution. A division bench of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) had fixed hearing of the case on Wednesday.
However, the case could not be heard because of the absence of the bench, while members of the legal fraternity boycotted court proceedings against the killing of the senior lawyer.
Rahib Buledi, a senior lawyer leader, strongly condemned the killing of Shar and criticised the Balochistan government. The killing of the senior lawyer was widely condemned by political parties and members of civil society.
