BEIJING:

In a significant development, a truck laden with cold chain containers carrying seafood from Pakistan has successfully reached Kashgar city in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, traversing the cross border land route.

This groundbreaking achievement marks the first-ever transportation of seafood containers from Pakistan to Kashgar city via the CPEC, according to a report by Global Times published on Friday.

A representative from the Pakistani transport company expressed excitement about this milestone, stating, “This is the first attempt at bilateral cross-border road transport business in partnership with a Chinese firm. The cost and price of cold chain transport on this route are currently being assessed, and our Chinese partners are also exploring more opportunities to import commodities from Pakistan.”

The representative further highlighted the advantages of road transport, citing significantly lower shipment costs compared to air transport and simplified customs clearance procedures. Notably, the truck’s journey took only eight days, whereas sea transport from Karachi Port to Shanghai’s Yangshan Port typically takes nearly a month.

Mohsin Merchant | 1 year ago | Reply One correction in your article it is true that by road the container can reach China in 8 days instead of 30 days by the sea here you mixed up the destination in China 8 days only can reach Kashgar not Shanghai port. For Shanghai port by road is not feasible. Therefore you have to ship out material by sea and it reaches about 30 days.
test | 1 year ago | Reply As far as CPEC s completion is concerned First Pakistan must give air bases naval bases drone bases and military bases to China. Second we have to build ML1 ML2 ML3 ML4 and ML5. We need to setup industrial manufacturing units in Special Economic Zones of Pakistan. We have to bring Chinese to Pakistan to create massive industries in Pakistan. We have to bring Chinese executives and CEOs to Pakistan s State Owned Entities. We need to have joint defence manufaturing contracts with Chinese companies. We need to regularly consult with CCP to monitor any specific changes in the Indo Pacific Strategy and to also take care of the regional activities such as maritime patrol and defence communications for the betterment of the region. We need 100s of millions of Chinese workers in Pakistan which will innovate and invent products in Pakistan. Pakistan must give Chinese big positions in policy making and decision making at both upper and lower level. We need to create hotels resorts green envrionments and touristic places to provide Chinese good environment in Pakistan.
