Suspect booked over alleged extortion

Case registered against man pretending to be TTP member

The Civil Line Police have registered a case against a suspect who pretended to be a member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and allegedly demanded extortion money of Rs300 million from a citizen.

The extortionists sent pictures of the citizen's house and all the details of his family on WhatsApp and demanded extortion money through calls and in case of non-payment, they threatened the citizen that they would abduct his children.

Mohammad Adeel told the police that he had received a phone call from someone who introduced himself as a representative of the TTP and demanded Rs300 million from him.

The caller also sent pictures of Adeel’s house and information about his family members, warning him of dire consequences.
