PESHAWAR:

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Ataullah Tarar has said that those who set fire to the memorials of the martyrs on May 9 did not realize that the martyrs sacrificed their lives for the nation. “The nation will never forgive the criminals of May 9,” he said while addressing the Prime Minister's Youth Talent Hunt Programme in Peshawar, where Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz (PML-N) Provincial Information Secretary Ehtesham Wali and other personalities were also present.

Tarar stated that Pakistan's national sport hockey has been in decline for many years. “We want the Pakistani flag to rise high once again in the Hockey World Cup and the Olympics,” he said. SAPM commended young generation saying the youth have come forward to shoulder the responsibilities of the nation.

Taking a jibe at Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), he said it was regrettable that the party that raised slogans in support of the youth -- only used them for political purposes. He recalled that in 2013, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif laid the foundation of the Prime Minister's Youth Programme.

He said that the nation will never forget the criminals of May 9. “The statue of Martyred Captain Karnal Sher Khan was set on fire,” SAPM said, adding that was enemies’ act because “Karnal Sher Khan is the son of the KhyberPakhtunkhwa soil”. “The memorials of the martyrs on May 9 were disrespected,” he added, adding that the arsonists did not know that by sacrificing their lives, martyrs were protecting the country.

“Our utmost priority is to not mislead the youth, the assistant to the PM declared,” adding that the government's resources should be primarily used for the benefit of the youth.
