GHOTKI:

A specialised covert team has been formed to purge the riverine area of dacoits. This team will be working covertly without the rest of the police force being aware of their existence, while IG Ghulam Nabi Memon and Ghotki SSP Tanveer Tabio are fully aware of their operations.

According to SSP Tabio, they have established strategic posts equipped with skilled marksmen to combat dacoits. Each post is manned by eight dedicated police officers. Recently, police rescued two hostages, including a medical professional.

However, dacoits continue to pose a significant challenge as they have fortified their positions with various traps and bunkers over the years. Notably, one notorious dacoit, known as Salto Shar, is wanted in over a hundred criminal incidents and is believed to have connections to drugs traffickers.

In order to eliminate dacoits, a deployment of 1,000 policemen has been made across the expansive Kacha area of Ghotki, spanning over 64 kilometres. Recognising the past instances of police collusion with dacoits, stringent measures have been taken to deter any future collaboration.

SSP Tabio further emphasised that the establishment of police posts in the region has significantly reduced incidents of robberies and kidnappings for ransom. However, this success has not come without a price. The dacoits, faced with heightened police presence, have shifted their focus towards targeting law enforcers.
