Ziauddin University's College of Clinical Psychology recently organised a seminar titled "Nurtured Mind, Boundless Tomorrow: Children's Mental Health Matters." The event aimed to prioritise child mental health and combat mental well-being stigma. Experts emphasised early intervention, family support, and education to foster children's cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Addressing the seminar, Vice Chancellor Syed Irfan Haider highlighted the need to prepare children for life's stresses and avoid excessive expectations of constant positivity. Dr Raman Kumar stressed the importance of early intervention for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, emphasising the role of family support in healthy brain development.
Dr Shaista Ehsan discussed the early detection of autism, emphasising the significance of recognising red flags and symptoms. Early diagnosis through screening during checkups was highlighted as key to improved outcomes.
