The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) organised a conference titled "Consensus on Fair Census" at a local hotel on Tuesday.
The event saw assemblage of delegates and experts from diverse political parties, socio-religious organisations, minority communities, business sectors, industrialists, legal and medical professions, and representatives from various walks of life. The event commenced with a solemn recitation of the Holy Quran.
MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui raised thought-provoking questions about the distribution of essential resources, particularly wheat, underscoring the need for transparency in allocating provisions to Karachi's population.
He questioned the fate of surplus wheat when the reported population figures do not account for it.
Rejecting the notion of provinces as "Mother Earth," Dr Siddiqui emphasised that provinces are administrative units akin to divisions and districts, while reserving the title of "Mother Earth" solely for Pakistan.
