Sir Sadiq’s welfare projects highlighted

Event held in memory of the late Nawab of Bahawalpur on his 57th death anniversary

BAHAWALPUR:

A seminar was organised on the occasion of the 57th death anniversary of the Nawab of Bahawalpur, Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V, at the Baghdadul Jadeed Campus of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

Addressing the seminar, the speakers said that nations always remembered their famous people and made their golden achievements a beacon of light.

The nations that forgot their heroes never succeeded.

Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi was a benefactor of Pakistan who had played a significant role in the establishment and stability of the nascent state.

He was a far-sighted ruler, and the development and performance of the then Bahawalpur State in the social, economic and educational fields was a proof of this.  Similarly, his policies about welfare projects were highly exemplary.

The purpose of organising a function at the Jamia Islamia every year in memory of Nawab Sahib was to inform the young generation about the achievements of this great leader of the Nation of Islam. The speakers said that Nawab Sadiq’s mission was to patronise the subcontinent’s schools.

One of his greatest achievements was the establishment of libraries, universities, colleges, schools and Madrasahs across the state of Bahawalpur.

The official press had not only been established, but it was also modernised with electric motors. Education in the state was free, and it was patronised by scholars.
