KARACHI:

In the continuing exodus of leaders and workers, the Pakistan Tehreeke-Insaf (PTI) received a major blow in Karachi, as its city president MNA Aftab Siddiqui left the party membership as well as politics.

"I confirm the message I posted on the social networking website, according to which I have quit politics," said the MNA.

He said that he wanted to serve his country as a businessman, which he is. Siddiqui said he has left Imran Khan's side and raised the slogan of Pakistan Zindabad and said that he has nothing to do with politics anymore.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson on Sunday said that 367 PTI workers and 300 supporters have also been arrested by the police from Karachi so far after the May 9 protests that erupted following the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan.

The spokesman said that of the 367 PTI workers, 177 were detained under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and 190 under various FIRs.

The spokesperson said that there are also a large number of persons who have been picked up by the law enforcement agencies but their arrest and the place of detention have not been disclosed. No information is being provided regarding the missing PTI persons.

PTI Karachi has demanded the release of all the arrested workers and supporters and has requested the judiciary to provide justice to the workers and people.
