Additional IG, Karachi, Javed Alam Odho has formed four special police teams to apprehend individuals involved in violent acts and arson on May 9 in the city. A notification has been issued regarding these teams.
The first team, comprising SSP Sajid Ameer Sadozai, SSP Shabbir Ahmed Sethar, and SSP Abriz Abbasi, is responsible for collecting evidence, including social media recordings, related to the arson and violent crimes that occurred on May 9 and 10.
The second team of SSP Tariq Elahi Masaoui and SSP Arif Aslam Rao will utilise data from the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) to identify rioters captured in the available CCTV footage and recordings.
SSP Tariq Nawaz and SSP Zubair Nazeer Sheikh comprise the third team tasked with conducting raids based on the available information to apprehend suspects involved in violent and arson crimes.
The fourth team, led by SSP Tariq Elahi Masui, DSP Khushnood Javed, and DSP Muhammad Nadeem, will work under the supervision of DIG East Muqadas Haider. Their responsibilities include interrogating arrested suspects and assisting investigating officers in judicial proceedings.
According to the notification, district SSPs will acquire additional riot footage from media representatives.
