RAWALPINDI:

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has approved a new plan to generate maximum revenue through beautification projects.

According to official sources, 297 pillars of the metro bus track and the Chandni Chowk and Sixth Road overhead bridges will be offered to advertisers to generate revenue. Under this new beautification plan, underpasses in various parts of the city will also be lent to various brands.

Officials said services of international firms are also being obtained for the first time and the PHA has asked interested firms to come up with ideas for beautification and revenue generation.

In this regard, PHA has asked for proposals from all firms till June 12. They said the firm with the best proposal will be awarded the contract. The pillars of the metro bus track offer a good opportunity for the authority to generate revenue.

This time, it has been decided to get the job done through public-private partnership so that no expenses are incurred on the national exchequer.

Earlier this year, the PHA launched an indoor beautification project which caught the eyes of scores of visitors.

The project was launched for the indoor decoration of homes, offices, hotels, motels, shops, plazas, and shopping malls in Rawalpindi.

Under the project, the PHA provided small plants to be planted in beautiful pots in the drawing rooms, bedrooms, lawns, TV lounges, and corridors of various buildings for beautification.
