Police shell hideouts of criminals in sixth week of operation

Punjab Police operations in riverine areas have carried on into the 42nd day. Teams started shelling the hideouts of criminals and forced them to retreat on Saturday. Around 10 suspects have been killed so far in operations in Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur, while 46 were arrested and 18 surrendered. Police teams also safely recovered 9 hostages.

A Punjab Police spokesperson said that the police force, equipped with modern weapons and armored vehicles, entered the treacherous area of Katcha Moro and achieved great success with timely action. Notorious criminal Waqar alias Waqari Imrani surrendered along with five of his accomplices. RPO DG Khan alleged that Waqar was involved in serious crimes like kidnapping for ransom, robbery, arms smuggling and murder. A large cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the surrendering suspects.

The spokesperson added that in Katcha Moro, the hideouts of the Gora Imrani and pit gangs are being besieged and police are advancing. Armored vehicles have demolished several hideouts in Katcha Moro already. Additionally, Rahim Yar Khan Police is fully focused on the Rajwani area, with personnel also using drone technology against suspected criminals in the Katcha Rajwani Peninsula.

Meanwhile, DPO Rahim Yar Khan Rizwan Umar Gondal said that police have upgraded the school and dispensary and moved them out of tents and into buildings.
