In a heartwarming gesture, Amitabh Bachchan recently took to Instagram to share a video showcasing the extraordinary cricket skills of a young boy. The legendary actor was quick to praise the boy's talent and expressed his belief that the future of Indian cricket was in safe hands. However, there seems to be a slight mix-up in Bachchan's assessment, as it turns out that the young prodigy is not Indian, but Pakistani.
The video in question was originally shared on Instagram by a user named Raza Mahar, who proudly displays his Pakistani heritage in his bio, mentioning that he hails from Sindh, Pakistan. The clip captured the attention of the Sholay star, who was impressed by the young boy's cricketing prowess.
Noticing the misconception, Pakistani singer Goher Mumtaz and fellow musician Asim Azhar kindly stepped in to provide clarification to Bachchan through their comments on his Instagram post. Mumtaz expressed his gratitude towards the Indian actor and pointed out that the talented boy featured in the video is indeed from Pakistan.
He also emphasised the importance of promoting bilateral cricket matches between the two nations, highlighting that it could contribute to a brighter future for cricket on both sides of the border. Mumtaz wrote humbly, "Sir, this kid is from Pakistan. Saw this a while ago through a Pakistani page with his ID, but [the] future of cricket is in our hands if we agree to play in each other’s country InshAllah. By the way, greatest fan of yours."
Similarly, Azhar echoed Mumtaz's sentiments and expressed his hope for a revival of the old days when cricket stars from India and Pakistan would play on each other's soil. "Dear sir, huge fan from Pakistan," began the Tum Tum singer. "And like my friend mentioned, this kid is from Pakistan but you are definitely right on the part where the future is in safe hands for both the sides if we bring back the old days soon where we get to see both stars play on both sides."
The incident serves as a reminder that talent knows no borders and that cricket, a sport cherished by millions in both India and Pakistan, has the power to unite rather than divide. As cricket enthusiasts on both sides eagerly await the resumption of bilateral matches, it is evident that the passion for the game remains strong, and the future of cricket indeed lies in the hands of talented youngsters like the boy featured in the viral video.
