DIJKOT:

A differently-abled man was killed in a house fire on Tuesday. Rescue teams evacuated the body from under debris after extinguishing the fire and handed it over to police.

Police said 55-year-old Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Chak 656/7 GB, was mentally-challenged. He was making tea in his house when the fire he lit to make the tea grew out of control and completely engulfed the house. As a result Bashir Ahmed suffered severe burns.

The fire also damaged the roof of the house and it collapsed, burying Bashir under the debris and killing him instantly.

Seeing the fire, passersby alerted Rescue 1122 for help. Rescue teams reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Once the fire was extinguished, rescuers evacuated Bashir’s body from under the collapsed roof.
