ABBOTABAD:

The Hazara Division is currently facing a pressing issue of inadequate flour supply, stemming from the prohibition on transporting flour from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to which the dealers and retailers of flour in Abbottabad are grappling with a shortage of stock.

According to sources, local mills are unable to meet the current demand for flour, exacerbating the situation in Hazara Division. Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Javed Abbasi has been informed of the situation.

Sources revealed that after the end of Ramazan, prominent dealers in Hazara Division were unable to procure flour from Punjab. Additionally, checkpoints are being used to halt vehicles carrying flour from Punjab to Hazara, causing the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag to surpass Rs3,000.

As a result, the public is facing the brunt and is compelled to purchase flour under duress. In Haripur, the daily sale of five thousand flour bags has become a customary practice, albeit the inventory remains restricted due to the prohibition on flour sales after the end of Ramazan.
